TMDY # 5 Yangon – Bagan – Mandalay – Heho
– Inle Lake – Yangon (8 days / 7 nights)
Day 1: Yangon
Arrive at Yangon Int’l Airport and transfer to hotel with afternoon
at leisure. Evening visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight
in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon – Bagan
Transfer to Yangon Airport for early morning flight to Bagan
(80 minutes). On arrival at Nyaung Oo Airport, you will be transferred
to hotel for refreshment. The day is spent exploring the town including
colourful Nyaung Oo Local Market, Shwezigon Pagoda, Wetkyi-in Gubyaukkyi
(a cave temple with exquisite jatakas murals paintings) and the
elegant Htilominlo Temple (noted for its plaster carvings) and Tharaba
Gate.In the afternoon, visit Ananda (an architectural masterpiece
of the early-style temple), Ananda Okkyaung (one of the few surviving
brick monasteries from the early Bagan period), Thatbyinnyu (the
highest in Bagan, rising to 61 m) and Dhammayangyi Temple (noted
for its remarkable brickwork). Enjoy sunset at one of the most famous
temples in Bagan. Overnight in Bagan.
Day 3: Bagan
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Myinkaba village and observe
the process of traditional lacquer-ware, one of the best-known Myanmar
handricrafts and a speciality of Bagan. Visit Myinkaba Gubyaukkyi
(an early period Pyu-style temple of Hindu influence). Nextstop
at Manuha and Nanpaya temples. In the afternoon, enjoy an excursion
to the village of Minnanthu. A visit to some of the most interesting
temples such as Payathonzu, Lemyethnar, Sinbyushin, Nandaminnya
and Minnanthu monastery. Enjoy sunset over the Ayeyarwaddy River
at Bupaya.Overnight in Bagan.
Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Nyaung Oo Airport for
the flight to Mandalay. On arrival, transfer to hotel. Then, enjoy
city tour of Mandalay including Mahamuni Pagoda, famous for its
venerable statue of Buddha covered with gold leaf, Local artisan’s
workshops of woodcarving, marble masonry, tapestry and gold leaf
making, Shwe Inn Bin monastery (a special specimen of Myanmar Wooden
architecture) and local market of Zegyo. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 5: Mandalay
After Breakfast, morning excursion to Amarapura. Visit Mahagandayone
Monastery where more than one thousand of monks live and study.
Then, visit U Bein Bridge across the Taungthaman Lake (the world’s
longest teakwood bridge). Afternoon visit Golden Shwenandaw Monastery
(noted for its exquisite woodcarving), Atumashi Monastery (the incomparable
Monastery) and the Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 marble stone slabs
of Buddhist scriptures (known as the world’s biggest book). Enjoy
the sunset from Mandalay Hill. Overnight in Mandalay.
Day 6: Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake
This morning, transfer to airport for domestic flight to Heho in
Shan State. On arrival at Heho airport, continue by car and enjoy
scenic drive to Nyaung Shwe jetty. A full day tour of Inle Lake
by private boat includes a chance to see the leg-rowing fishermen
and the floating gardens, built up from the strips of water hyacinth
and mud and anchored to the bottom with bamboo poles. Visit a floating
village at Ywama (the lake’s downtown) where a floating market is
held every 5 days. The tour also includes a visit to Phaung Daw
Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon and the jumping cat
monastery, with beautiful antique Buddha statues. Overnight in Inle
Lake.
Day 7: Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon
In the morning transfer to Nyaung Shwe jetty by private boat and
then scenic drive to Heho Airport for the flight to Yangon. On arrival,
transfer hotel. Afternoon shopping at Bogyok Aung San (Scott) Market,
it the city busiest & liveliest bazaar. More explorations of Yangon
including Sule Pagoda, Botataung Pagoda, China town and the fruit
market. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 8: Yangon
Morning visit to Chaukhtatkyi Reclining Buddha and Karaweik Royal
Barge (a royal floating barge on the Kandawgyi Royal Lake, for photo
stop). Transfer to Yangon Airport for departure.
