TMDY # 2 Yangon – Bago – Thanlyin (Syriam) (4
days / 3 nights)
Day 1: Yangon
Arrive at Yangon Int’l Airport and transfer to hotel with afternoon
at leisure. Evening visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda. Overnight
in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon – Bago - Yangon
After breakfast at the hotel, leave Yangon and enjoy a scenic
journey by road to Bago, 80 km to the northwest of Yangon. Bago
is an ancient capital of the former Mon Kingdom dating back to the
6th century. Sightseeing in Bago includes Shwethalyaung (the beautiful
55-metre long reclining Buddha), and the Mon style Shwemawdaw Pagoda
(one of the most venerated in Myanmar). Its spire stands 114m high
and is taller even than the Shwedagon Pagoda. Also visit the well-restored
former palace Kambozathadi. End the tour of Bago with a walk around
the colourful Bago Market. On the way back to Yangon, visit the
Allied War Cemetery near Htaukkyant (the final resting place for
over 27,000 allied soldiers), and a local woven bamboo workshops.
In Yangon: Kaba Aye Pagoda (World Peace Pagoda), Maha Pasana Guha
Cave (where the sixth Buddhist synod took place in 1952), Buddhist
Art Museum (a wide collection of religious paraphernalia and Buddhist
texts).
Day 3: Yangon – Thanlyin – Yangon
After a leisurely breakfast, drive to Thanlyin and visit Thanlyin’s
Kyaik-khauk Pagoda and Kyauktan Island’s Kyaik-mhawwun Yele Pagoda.
Afternoon drive back to Yangon and enjoy city tour including Chinatown
and the fruit market, Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market, Sule Pagoda,
Botataung Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 4: Yangon
Morning visits to Chaukhtatkyi Reclining Buddha, Karaweik Royal
Barge (a royal floating barge on the Kandawgyi Royal Lake, for photo
stop). Transfer to Yangon Airport for departure.
